Mattie Ulmer, beloved daughter, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her hometown of Laurel, Mississippi on July 6, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on April 4, 1949, in Laurel, she was the daughter of the late Judge Love, Sr. and the late Willie Love.
Mattie was known for her infectious laughter and warm spirit. A talented comedian, she found joy in sharing jokes that brought smiles to those around her. Her love for decorating filled her home, and she often transformed spaces into vibrant, welcoming environments. An avid listener of gospel music, Mattie drew comfort and inspiration from the melodies that resonated with her faith.
She was a proud graduate of Bay Springs High School, Class of 1968, and dedicated her professional life to the Laurel School District, where she retired after many years of service.
Mattie is survived by her children and grandchildren, who will forever cherish the memories of her laughter, love, and the invaluable lessons she taught them.
A visitation honoring Mattie's remarkable life will be held on July 19, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at Sweet Hope Baptist Church, located at 925 S 6th Ave, Laurel, MS 39440.
As we remember Mattie, we celebrate her legacy of joy and her impact on all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be dearly missed, yet her spirit will continue to inspire laughter and love in the hearts of many.
